Get ready, Moreton Bay—Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day is back on Wednesday, 11 June 2025: the flagship fundraising event where fun meets purpose and it all starts with YOU.

Live large and dig deep at this year’s event to help fund life-changing research, staff wellbeing projects and transformational health care for the whole community.

Thanks to Giving Day Impact Partners, every donation made between now and Giving Day will be DOUBLED, delivering twice the impact for patients, families and healthcare professionals.

“This isn’t just fundraising, it’s hope in action: the good we can do starts with you,” said RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske.

“Your generosity helps dedicated Redcliffe Hospital teams turn life-changing ideas into real-world impact. Together, we’re building a better, healthier Queensland.”

Giving Day proceeds will fund ongoing renovations to Redcliffe Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit as well as local healthcare initiatives that fall outside the scope of government funding.

Transformative rehabilitation

With over 60 projects funded to date, including the transformation of three spaces within the Stroke and Rehabilitation Unit, Ben Templeman is just one of many family members thrilled to see patients reaping the rewards of donor generosity.

Ben’s mum Vicki spent four months recuperating at Redcliffe Hospital following a stroke. For, Ben, the generosity of donors means more than his family can ever say.

“Mum loves the thought that if anyone else has to be in the Rehabilitation Unit, they now have a lovely garden to enjoy and a beautiful cafe-style lounge to spend time with family during recovery. You wouldn’t believe the difference it can make.”

Research for recovery

After experiencing a fall, Jane Brooks suffered internal injuries, multi-organ sepsis, double pneumonia, kidney failure and required breathing support. But the worst impact, she says, came in the form of a specific type of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) called Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS).

Thanks to the generosity of Giving Day donors, Jane is now involved in research to better understand the persistent physical, cognitive, and mental health challenges that can affect ICU patients as they navigate their new ‘normal’.

“My husband Tim is also involved in this, as the family experience is far different from the patients but can be as (if not more) traumatic,” Jane said.

“I owe so much to Redcliffe Hospital. I know I am helping people and ‘making a difference’.”

Revitalising child’s play

For families like the Mikas, whose son Lewis was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder, KCNK9 Imprinting Syndrome, the revamped Children’s Ward playroom and parent lounge will be an absolute game-changer.

“It pleases me that a small amount of joy is brought to children at their most vulnerable,” said mum, Julia. “It also provides a much-needed change of scenery for parents and kids, away from the very clinical hospital room.”

Building works are due to begin soon, thanks to the generosity of the local community and Impact Partners.
